1. PURPOSE
To define a safe system of work for welding repair of metallic skips using arc welding.
2. SCOPE
Repair of cracks, holes, worn sections and reinforcement of metallic skips.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance Supervisor – oversee work
Welder – perform welding
Electrician – connect/disconnect power at DB
Fire Watchman – monitor fire risks
HSE Officer – ensure compliance
4. TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
Arc welding machine, electrodes, extension cable, grinder, hand tools
5. PPE
Welding helmet, gloves, coveralls, safety boots, goggles
6. PROCEDURE
Conduct toolbox talk
Inspect equipment
Electrician connects power
Prepare surface
Perform welding
Inspect weld
Disconnect power
Clean area
7. SAFETY
Use PPE
Ensure fire extinguisher available
No damaged cables
No lone working
8. EMERGENCY
Follow site emergency procedures and report incidents immediately
