The Yankee Chronicles
Troubles in Rwanda
The country of Rwanda is in a crisis. Hutu and Tutsi fighting against each other with the Hutu
beginning the acts of genocide to completely abolish the tribe they once stood with. The UN held
a press coference recently officially declaring the attrocity a genocide. Yet with all that being
said we still sit declining the desire to intervene in the Rwandan Civil War. Need we not forget
the result of genocide in World War II, the absolutely disgusting nature of which thousands of
Jews were brutally killed? Now Rwanda is no Germany but does that make the people of their
nation worth less than that of the people we helped to rescue decades ago? New Zealand and
Nigeria have already offered to fund and put soldiers on the ground to stop the war and help
sides negotiate to peace. So what is stopping us from agreeing to intervention and supplying
funds to other countries? Is it the fear of failing? Is it the fear of the UN being embarrassed if all
does not go according to plan? This is a serious dilemma and if not dealt with quickly can only
grow in size.
Breaking News!!
Belgium has officially elected to pull out of Rwanda leaving no order and no government
present. With the state of this sovereign nation it appears they only thing we can estimate is that
there will no time soon be a cease fire and things look to be getting out of hand.
