CLASS EXERCISE 5: FUTURE VISION, YOUR DESIRED FUTURE
If you have an idea of what your desired future is, it will be easier to make choices that fit that future.
If you have an idea of what your desired future is, you will be better able to recognize suitable
possibilities that get you closer to your desired future.
Do the 3 steps below.
Step 1
Find at least five and at most ten images that say something about the future you want. These
images could apply to your work or to your private life. These could be, for instance, images that
1. represent what your ambition is or what you want to achieve;
2. show something that you would find really fun/important/interesting to do later on in life;
3. show elements of where you want to be heading;
4. show someone who is doing or can do something that you want to be or do in the future;
5. show achievements, results or milestones that you would also like to achieve.
You can gather images from any place you like. Consider:
a. the internet;
b. magazines;
c. stills’ from television, films, YouTube;
d. blogs and video blogs;
e. social media such as Facebook and Instagram;
f. draw or make something yourself.
Step 2
Bundle all these images, and, if applicable, include a link to it in your portfolio. Make sure that the
overall picture gives a good sense of your future. You can bundle these images any way you would
like, for instance:
A. a presentation in Prezi or PowerPoint
B. a website or blog;
C. a(n online) mood board;
D. an online collage;
E. a mind map;
F. a bundle of images in a picture-app;
G. making a collage by hand and taking a photo of it;
H. a Word document
Next to each image1, write down this sentence and finish it: “What this image says about my future
is…”
Step 3
Make sure you take a picture/ screenshot of your final product to add to your portfolio.
