Middle School Promotion Requirements:
Middle school students must pass language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies to meet annual promotion requirements. To be promoted to high school,
middle school students must successfully complete three middle school or higher-level courses in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, including
one civics education course; and complete a personalized academic and career plan. The grade enhancement policy for high school credit courses taken prior to ninth
grade, allows students to replace a grade of C or below with a grade of C or higher, earned subsequently in the same or comparable course. The replaced grade is
excluded in the cumulative, unweighted state GPA required for graduation, but is included in the cumulative, weighted district GPA used to determine rank in class.
The Summer Learning Program provides additional opportunities for students to meet promotion requirements. Contact your child's school for program details.
The Student Progression Plan available on the district's website provides additional information related to academic requirements.
