How Leader is different from Manager?
A manager uses his authority, inherent in designated formal rank in the
organisation, to obtain compliance from organizational members to complete
the tasks allotted.
Every Leader is a manager, and every Leader has authority by virtue of his
position in the organisation. However, a Leader does not rely solely on
authority or positional power; Over and above his authority, the leader uses
his personality power and personal influence to get the task done and this
leadership ability is important towards the achievement of organisational goals
By integrating positional power with personality power, a leader ensures that
everybody in the organization will own the task and work with full
commitment to achieve the project/ organisation’s goals. This blend of formal
authority and personal influence transforms compliance into genuine
engagement and shared responsibility.
