1. Cardinal numbers
Cardinal numbers are used for counting. They help us see the exact number or quantity.

In writing numbers over 20 we use hyphen.

2. Ordinary numbers
Ordinal numbers are used to say dates, sequence and order of something.

3rd -third

3. Days of week
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
e.g. Sunday was the 5th February 2022.
4. Months of the year
January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November,
December. (They are in sequence order)
e.g. The first of January.
e.g. Twenty - first of May.
5. Telling time
Time can behold in different ways. It is important to know that time can be told in 24-hour clock.
All the hours from 0 to 12 are called morning and we say A.M. From 12 to 24 are called
afternoon and we say P.M.

An hour can be divided into four quarters:
09:15 a quarter past nine
09:30 half past nine
09:45 a quarter to eleven
10:00 ten o’clock
From 01—30 minutes you say PAST the hour, 31-59 minutes you say TO the next hour.
11:05 five minutes past eleven (A.M) or eleven five.
14:23 Twenty-three past two (P.M) or two twenty-three.
7:35 twenty – five minutes to eight (A.M) or seven thirty-five.
6. Dates (usually ordinary numbers)
2nd July 2022 or July the second 2022.
Time expressions (underlined words)
1. I usually woke up early
2. See you later today.
3. You are always late.
4. The teacher arrives after the students.
5. The students arrive before the teacher.
6. See you soon.
7. we discuss this the next hour.
