Fourth Grade Reading Comprehension 1: Max’s Lost Puppy
Once there was a little puppy named Max who loved to explore the world around
him. One day, while playing outside, Max wandered away from his yard and got
lost. He didn't know where he was or how to get back home.
Max was scared and alone. He walked for hours, but he couldn't find his way
home. He missed his family and his warm bed. He felt very sad and didn't know
what to do.
Meanwhile, Max's family was very worried. They searched the whole
neighborhood for him but couldn't find him. They put up posters and asked
everyone they met if they had seen Max.
Finally, after three long days of searching, a kind woman found Max wandering
near her house. She saw his collar and called his family right away. Max's family
was overjoyed to hear that he was safe and rushed to pick him up.
Max was so happy to see his family again. He licked their faces and wagged his tail
so hard that it hurt. He was so grateful to be back home where he belonged.
