feel uncomfortable?

If you like hugs, can you hug anyone you feel like hugging?
No, you need to ask first. This is also called asking permission
or consent. For example:
Can I hug you?
Can I hug you?
Yes
No thank you, I would feel
uncomfortable.
I’ll wave instead?
If someone threatens you or bribes you to get you to agree then this is not
consent. If someone touches you in an unsafe way, this is never your fault.

Intimacy Circles
Everybody is different.
Different people feel comfortable with
different sort of touch.
Some people like hugs from people they are
close to, others do not like hugs even from
those they are close to.
Nobody has the right to tell you what to do
with your body, not your friends, adults you
know or strangers.
My Body, My Choice.
You decide.

● Any body parts that we usually cover with
swimwear is considered private.
● No-one should touch these private parts of
our body unless there is a health or hygiene
reason.
● If someone touches a child’s private parts,
then it is never the child’s fault.
● If you are ever worried about unsafe touch,
you can talk with someone on your Network
of Support and if they are not reachable who
else could you speak to?
Your task…
Safe and unsafe touch
Think about the sort of physical contact you
feel comfortable with.
Mark on the body outline with a red or green
coloured pencil whether touching that part of
the body feels safe or unsafe to you.
Make a key in your book to show this:
Key:
Green = safe
Red = unsafe
