In the demanding environments of mineral processing plants and open-pit mines, the external
protection of slurry pumps is often overlooked. However, the integrity of the coating system is just as
vital as the internal wear parts. Here is why:
1. Compliance with ISO 12944: Beyond Just Aesthetics
Specifying "blue paint" is no longer enough for modern engineering standards. To ensure a guaranteed
service life, equipment specifications must strictly follow ISO 12944.
Key Concept: For aggressive environments, engineers must define the Corrosivity Category (typically C5-I
for industrial or C5-M for marine), the Durability Range (e.g., High/H), and the specific Protective Paint
System.

rapidly under UV light.
