Unit One Reflection Paper (15%):
600-750 Words. A paper that incorporates at least one of the common materials from the course
and one selection such as a reading, film or experience like a lab, speaker, internship, study abroad
experience, etc. that the student engaged with before coming into the class. How has my
understanding of respect and integrity evolved, and how does it inform my understanding of justice
and compassion? What do I understand justice and compassion to mean? How does that translate
into service? Your paper is a close reading. You will be drawing in detail from the texts you choose.
Please demonstrate and illustrate your points with your reflections on several examples from the
texts you choose to reflect on in this paper.
