Introduction to BREEAM Assessor Training

Welcome to your BREEAM Assessor training course.
This course is the start of your journey as a BREEAM Assessor and will introduce you
to the world of BREEAM and the role of an Assessor.
Throughout the course, you will be presented with a series of exercises and
information to aid your learning, thereby building up your knowledge and confidence
towards becoming an assessor.

The primary aims of the BREEAM Assessor training are to help you develop the
knowledge and skills needed to become a qualified and licensed Assessor.
The training course is an important and necessary step to becoming an assessor, but
is only the first step.
On completion of the training, if you are successful in passing the examination you
will be entitled to take out a BREEAM Assessor license. And this is where the work
really begins!
By gaining live project experience, working with engaged, informed clients and
project teams, and learning from colleagues and peers who are existing assessors,
you will have the opportunity to become an experienced and effective assessor,
thereby championing BREEAM certification and supporting the development of a
more sustainable built environment.

This training course follows a modular structure, enabling you to develop your
understanding of BREEAM and the role of an Assessor a step at a time.
These modules will focus on a number of key technical and process-related aspects,
including:
• The principles of BREEAM
• Scope and scheme classification
• Assessment practicalities such as the challenges and demands of working on
live projects
• Support networks available for Assessors
• A detailed review of assessment criteria in each BREEAM category

reporting, and
What happens next, with guidance on preparing for examinations, applying
for a license and registering and submitting assessments.

To ensure the training supports your learning in an interactive and engaging way, it
is delivered through a variety of formats including:
Presentations and videos, quizzes and tests, review of the BREEAM documents,
calculator tools used in live assessments, and live webinars.
In addition, live webinars are available as well as references to other relevant
platforms and resources.
