INSTRUCTION 1.Each group will be assigned one characteristic that differentiates moral standards from non-moral standards. Example: A moral standard is refusing to follow an unjust law that discriminates, while a non-moral standard is following fashion rules even if they contradict your values. •Moral standard is: evaluated fairly, without bias or favoritism. •Non-moral standard is: can be influenced by personal interests, preferences, or bias. •Example: A moral standard is treating all students fairly regardless of background, while a non-moral standard is giving more attention to a student because they are your relative. EMOTIONAL AND PRESCRIPTIVE NATURE Moral standard is: emotionally charged and directs behavior by telling people what they ought to do. Non-moral standard is: often emotion-neutral and does not carry moral blame or praise. Example:A moral standard is feeling guilty for lying, while a non-moral standard is feeling indifferent for not following a fashion trend. 06 SUMMARY NON-MORAL STANDARDS Rules that do not involve ethics or moral judgment. They guide behavior in customs, manners, or preferences. •Example: Dress codes, game rules. MORAL STANDARDS Rules or principles about what is right or wrong, based on ethical values. They affect others’ well-being and apply universally. •Example: Do not steal, respect others.
