2. Story for a School Magazine
Your school magazine is asking students to share “moments that taught you a lesson.” Write a
short article (200–250 words) telling the story of a time you were stuck in a difficult or
embarrassing situation. Explain the background, describe the event in detail, and show how you
managed to get through it.
• confused • embarrassed • at fault • uncomfortable • trapped • hopeless
Mind Map
1. Background (Introduction – set the scene)
Ask yourself:
Where was I?
When did it happen?
Who was with me?
Why was I there?
2. The Event (Problem / Awkward Moment – main part)
Ask yourself:
What exactly went wrong?
How did I feel at that moment? (use words like confused, embarrassed, nervous,
uncomfortable, hopeless, guilty, trapped)
What did other people do or say?
Did I try to fix the situation at first? What happened?
3. Resolution (How I managed / Lesson learned – ending)
Ask yourself:
How did I eventually get through the situation?
Did someone help me, or did I solve it myself?
How did I feel afterwards?
What lesson did I learn from this experience?
