� The Water Cycle: Nature’s Recycling System
Water is one of the most important substances on Earth. Every living thing depends
on it to survive. But have you ever wondered where all the water goes after it rains?
The answer lies in something called the water cycle, which is nature’s way of reusing
and moving water around the planet.
1. Evaporation
When the Sun heats up rivers, lakes, and oceans, some of the water turns into vapor
(gas) and rises into the air. This process is called evaporation. Even water from
plants and soil can evaporate!
2. Condensation
As the water vapor rises, it cools down and turns back into tiny water droplets. These
droplets come together to form clouds — this stage is called condensation.
3. Precipitation
When the droplets in the clouds get too heavy, they fall back to Earth as precipitation
— this could be rain, snow, sleet, or hail depending on the temperature.
4. Collection
Finally, the water collects again in rivers, lakes, and oceans. Some of it soaks into the
ground, becoming groundwater that plants can use. Then the Sun starts the process
all over again!

have enough fresh water for drinking, farming, or cleaning. It also helps control the
