Chips= 30 x 4.18 x 24.7
PROCESSING THE DATA
Equation: Q= mcΔT
Energy content= Q/change in mass
= 3097.38 J
Raw slice= 30 x 4.18 x 0.1
= 12.5 J
Energy content of chips= 3097.38/1.3
= 2383 J/g
Energy content of raw slice= 12.5/0.7
= 18 J/g

CONCLUSION
1. The potato chips have the greatest energy content because they have been cooked
with oil, and oil contains a higher amount of fats. Therefore, chips have higher
amounts of energy content.
2. Can be shown based on the data of the energy content, and mines it together as if
to calculate the E of oil itself.
Chips - Raw potato = 2383-18
= 2365 J/g
Then, the approximate energy value from that chip is 2365 J/g that can be imputed
to the oil.
3. Ensure that the use of metal or an insulated container is used during the experiment
instead of the test tube, because there is a hole as if an open test tube. This can
reduce heat lost to the air and most of the energy from the potatoes is able to heat
the water. Additionally, make sure that we keep the same distance between flame
and test tube to prevent an error during the trials. This can ensure any heat is gained
by the burning food only.

Evaluation
1. The raw slice potato won’t burn completely, it is likely because of its higher
water content in it. This can just evaporate the water instead of releasing
heat. Therefore, it does take longer time to burn (less heat is released)
meaning the raw slice potato has extremely low energy content.
2. Before the raw potato is used, I will dry the potato slice first before burning it
and cut it thinner rather than thicker slice. This is to aim for a complete
combustion.
