Math 10 Activity
Utility and Ubiquity of Mathematics
For students that will work as a group, choose one of the following activities
I.
Group Report
A.
Choose a subject matter that the group finds interesting or is familiar with.
B.
Topic can be anything from, but is not limited to, Sports, Music, Media, Linguistics,
Practical/Fine Arts, etc. Send me an e-mail on or before November 09, 2020 regarding the
group’s selected topic for approval.
C.
Do a 30-40 minute report on the use of mathematics on your chosen topic, or on
how is mathematics related to that subject matter.
D.
Use appropriate visual aids, e.g., PowerPoint slides, videos, etc. for your report.
E.
Submit, together with the video recording of the report, a summary (1-2 pages) of
the said report. Deadline is on November 30, 2020.
II.
Group Discussion
A.
Choose a topic/issue related to Mathematics that everyone in the group is familiar
with.
B.
Topics should not be too broad and can be from, but is not limited to,
Highschool/Elementary Mathematics Education System in the Philippines, Use of
Technology in Teaching and/or Studying Mathematics, Conference Format in Sports (Double
Elimination, Round Robin, etc.), National/Local Voting System in the Philippines, etc.
C.
Send me an e-mail on or before November 09, 2020 regarding the group’s selected
topic for approval.
D.
The group has the liberty to decide the format (debate style, open forum, mediated
discussion, etc.) of the discussion. Make sure that everyone in the group is given an
opportunity to talk and share his/her ideas.
E.
Submit, together with the video recording of the discussion, a summative report of
discussion. Deadline is on November 30, 2020.
For students that will work individually, choose a topic related to mathematics and give short
presentation (7-10 minutes) regarding it. Email me on or before November 09, 2020 the topic that
you wish to present. Submit the video recording of your talk on or before November 30, 2020.
Students with no easy access to the internet or has no gadget to do a recording should email me as
soon as possible so that we can talk about an alternative activity that you can do in lieu of a
recorded video.
