The solid rod AB has a diameter ππ΄π΅ = 60 mm.
The pipe CD has an outer diameter of 90 mm

both the rod and the pipe are made of steel
for which the allowable shearing stress is 75

A torque of magnitude T = 1000 Nm is

allowable shearing stress is 60 MPa in
each shaft, determine the required
diameter of (a) shaft AB, (b) shaft CD.
Under normal operating conditions a motor exerts a torque of
magnitude ππΉ = 1200 lb*in at F. Knowing that ππ· =8 in, ππΊ =3 in,
and the allowable shearing stress is 10.5ksi in each shaft,
determine the required diameter of (a) shaft CDE, (b) shaft FGH.

A steel shaft and an aluminum tube are
connected to a fixed support and to a rigid
disk as shown in the cross section. Knowing
that the initial stresses are zero, determine
the maximum torque π0 that can be applied
to the disk if the allowable stresses are 120
MPa in the steel shaft and 70 MPa in the
aluminum tube. Use G=77 GPa for steel and
G=27 GPa for aluminum.
mitad. Determine el par ejercido sobre el
eje por cada uno de los soportes.

The design of the gear-and-shaft system shown requires
that steel shafts of the same diameter be used for both
AB and CD. It is further required that ππππ₯ ≤60 MPa
and that the angle ∅π· through which end D of shaft CD
rotates not exceed 1,5°. Knowing that G=77 GPa,
determine the required diameter of the shafts.

Trabajo y Joule
El trabajo mecánico W es:
π=πΉ⋅π
π=π⋅π
T: torque [N·m]

https://drbuc2jl8158i.cloudfront.net/shared/Engeneering/mecmovies/ch06/m06_16_s000.html
Determine the maximum shear stress
developed in the 40-mm-diameter shaft.
The solid steel shaft AC has a diameter of 25 mm
and is supported by smooth bearings at D and E. It
is coupled to a motor at C, which delivers 3 kW of
power to the shaft while it is turning at 50 rev/s. If
gears A and B remove 1 kW and 2 kW, respectively,
determine the maximum shear stress developed in
the shaft within regions AB and BC . The shaft is
free to turn in its support bearings D and E .
The two solid shafts and gears shown are used to
transmit 16 hp from the motor at A operating at a speed
of 1260 rpm to a machine tool at D. Knowing that the
maximum allowable shearing stress is 8 ksi, determine
the required diameter (a) of shaft AB, (b) of shaft CD.
