This product is a software for analyzing the waveform data measured by the dip wetting tester <SWB-2> on a personal computer. When the wetting tester SWB-2 alone is used, the measurement result is displayed on the LC screen of the main unit, and no more analysis is available. However, when this software product is used, it becomes possible to perform measurement under preset condition, display, analysis and storage of waveform data, etc. on a personal computer, and also to easily manage the measurement data. Before using, read thoroughly this manual to become familiar with the software handling method, and handle correctly to fully utilize its high performance. Software Installation I-1 Packing List After unpacking, check the content by referring to the following list. Others: One empty USB port for connecting the unit to the computer 3 I-3 Execution of installation Putting a SWB-S2 CD-ROM into a PC, "Malcolm software installer" will operate automatically. Run the installation in the following procedure. Log in as an administrator, when installing the application software or USB driver. I-3-1 Installation ■ SWB⁻S2 and USB driver installation manual Put the installation CD-ROM into a PC. Select [Malcom_Setup.exe] and click on it. I-3-1-1 Installation of SWB-S2 1. Click on the button [1. Application software Install.] Install the SWB-S2 software. (Administrator) [Notice] * When the loading speed is low, it may take some time to display SWB-S2 installation starting screen. 4 2. [Welcome to the Install Shield Wizard for SWB-S2] screen will appear. Click [Next] button. Choose the destination of the SWB-S2. (The default folder is C:¥Program Files¥malcom¥SWB-S2 folder.) 3. After selection, click on [Next] button. After installation, [Setup complete] dialog will be shown. 4. Click on [Finish] button. The installation of the SWB-S2 software has terminated. 5. Terminating the installation, click on [Finish] button. (Administrator) 5 I-3-1-2 Installation of USB Driver Installing the USB driver, log in as an administrator. Connect the SWB-2 to the PC in the middle of the installation. Prepare a connecting cable and SWB-2. Turn on the SWB-2 to connect it to a PC with a USB cable. 1. Click on the button [2. USB driver Install]. (Administrator) 2. [MalcomUSB Device terminate. Ready to use] Message is displayed, the installation of the USB driver will 6 I-3-1-3 Check the installed USB driver Make sure that the USB device is connected to a PC. 1. Click on [The device manager is displayed] button. The device manager will be displayed. (Administrator) 7 2. Select [Universal Serial Bus Device] from the device tree. 3. Check that [U] is displayed under [Universal Serial Bus Device]. ● If it is displayed, the USB driver has been properly installed. ● If not, it has not been installed properly. ※ When it is not displayed, try to install the driver again. 8 II. General Description of Software II-1 Software Functions If the sensor unit is not mounted and packed together with the tester main body before shipment, the electro-balance sensor must first be installed. 1. SWB-2 can be controlled from a personal computer. 2. The analysis result can be confirmed not only by numerical value but also by observing waveform. 3. The measurement data (numerical value, waveform) can be stored. 4. The software has functions necessary for analysis and summing up of the measurement data. (Text output and printing of waveform, numerical data, measurement condition, etc., and display of waveforms) 5. By specifying the range of the numerical data, display of OK or NG can be made for the measurement result. 6. (Example: Saving cannot be selected if the measurement data is not displayed. Setting window cannot be displayed if the data display is overlapped.) ① File – Open The file of previous measurement is opened. In the display area of the setting window and waveform window and the data list window, the data measurement conditions and analysis results are displayed. ② File – Save The data displayed in the screen is saved. ③ File – CSV conversion The data (setting data, measurement condition, analysis result, etc.) of the displayed file is saved in the text file format. If two or more data are contained in one file, the contained data are all output. In the storage dialog box, the initial status is in CSV format. If txt format is selected, the data is saved with the (.txt) extension. ④ File – CSV conversion of measurement data The measurement data (the value of load per 0.1 sec.) of the displayed waveform is output in text format. ⑤ File – Print The displayed waveform and data list are printed. ⑥ File – End of application Application is finished. ⑦ Measurement – Measurement Measurement is started by displaying the “Condition setting” screen. ⑧ Display select – Display of waveform graph Display or non-display of the waveform graph is selected. ⑨ Display select – Display select – General display One waveform data is displayed. ⑩ Display select – Display select – Overlapped display Two or more waveform data in the open file are displayed in one screen by overlapping. All the analysis result is the mean value of all data, and the cursor in the data list window moves onto the item of the mean value. 11 ⑪ Display select – Real time data display A monitoring window is displayed (for the current load data and temperature data of the main unit) on computer. (Communication will be made, and if PC and SWB-2 are not connected by a USB cable, error will be displayed.) ⑫ Display select – Real time data front row display The real time data is normally displayed in the front row. (Check is made during display.) ⑬ Display select – Measurement condition display Display and non-display of the setting window is changed. ⑭ Display select – Analysis result list display Display and non-display of the data list window is changed. ⑮ Display select – Return to system default size and position The size and display position of the waveform graph are returned to the initial state. ⑯ Display select – Return to system default size and position The size and display position of the data list window are returned to the initial state. ⑰ Environment setting – Tool bar Tool bar display or non-display is set. ⑱ Environment setting – Status bar Status bar display or non-display is set. ⑲ Environment setting – High temperature specification (optional) When validating the temperature setting of 320℃ or higher, enter the key cord from here (W947-D410-Z723). Please read and understand fully the cautions in the instruction manual of SWB-2 main unit when performing measurement of 320℃ ℃ or over. ⑳ Help – Version data The version of the software is displayed. 12 II-3 Tool Bar One waveform is displayed. The data in the open file is displayed by overlapping. Version data is displayed. Data list window is displayed. Setting window is displayed. Monitor window is displayed. Waveform graph is displayed. Measurement is started by displaying “Condition setting” screen. Waveform and data list are printed. Measurement data is saved. Measurement data is opened. 13 II-4 Screen Configuration Main window This is first displayed when software is started. (Directly after starting, this window alone is displayed.) Setting window Display and setting of the measurement, flux application, OK/NG judgment conditions are performed on this window. Waveform window The measured waveform, analysis result, measurement conditions, etc. are displayed. Unit and scale changeover and measuring operation are performed on this window. Data list window The analysis result of data in the file is displayed in a list. Movement of the displayed data is performed on this window. For any window other than the main window, the display position, presence and absence of display can be changed freely. 14 III. Be sure to set the measurement conditions before performing measurement. Caution: When a measurement file is opened, the waveform and the previous measurement conditions are displayed, but these are not valid as the measurement condition (displayed condition). To carry out measurement under the displayed condition, depress once the OK or Apply button on the setting window. To perform measurement by changing the setting, first change the condition, then depress the OK or Apply button. III-2-1 Setting window If the setting window is not displayed, perform as follows: When performing measurement newly Select “Measurement (M) Measurement (M)” from the menu, or “Measurement” bar. on the tool When the setting window is not displayed with a past file opened Select “Display select (D) Measurement condition display (C)” from the menu, or “Measurement condition display” on the tool bar. Measurement condition tab (Measurement conditions such as temperature condition, dipping condition, etc. are set.) Solder temperature : 20 to 400 (450)℃ (401 to 450℃ ℃ are out of the specification range.) Temperature setting over 320℃ ℃ first require the input of the key code (W947-D410-Z723) on the menu. Before performing high temperature measurement, be sure to read and understand the cautions given in the instruction manual for the main unit. 16 Drying time 1 to 60 s Drying operation ON/OFF Dipping speed 0.1 to 30.0mm/s Lift up speed 0.1 to 30.0mm/s Dipping depth 0.01 to 20.00mm Dipping time 1 to 200 s Load sensitivity High, middle, low Default Returns to the value before changing. Comment Enter other special note. This is written into the comment of the displayed data when the save button is depressed. Buoyancy correction ON/OFF (For details, refer to the item of IV-2-2 Buoyancy correction.) 0 position display ON/OFF Flux application condition tab (Enter the flux application condition.) Dipping time: 1 to 200 s Lift up speed: 0.1 to 30.0mm/s Load sensitivity: High, middle, low OK/NG judgment condition tab (Set the items applied to OK/NG judgment condition.) ON/OFF for each item of [Fmax, Fend, t0, t1, t, and Sb] can be set. The initial settings are all OFF. Put the check, and depress “Apply” or “OK” button. Judgment will be made to all the data in the file. For details, refer to the item in IV-2-3 OK/NG judgment. The changed value becomes valid upon depressing the OK or Apply button. If the Cancel button is depressed, the changed or entered value becomes invalid, and the window will close with the previous setting unchanged. 17 III-2-2 Waveform window The waveform window is displayed by operating as follows: Perform measurement newly Select “Measurement (M) Measurement (M)” from menu, or “Measurement” on the tool bar. Open a past file Select “File (F) Open (O)” from menu, or select “Open” Screen when performing measurement newly on the tool bar. Screen after reading a file 18 Explanation of Display Screen 0 10 File name: The file name and data NO. of the displayed waveform are displayed. 0 20 Date and time of measurement: The date and time when the data is saved are displayed. 0 30 Load graph: Load characteristic graph (Blue) 0 40 Load scale: The load scale is indicated. Point the cursor and change the value with half-size character, then the scale can be changed by using the Enter key. When the check box of the load unit is changed, the unit of the load can be changed. (Change in the unit will be applied to all the related items.) 0 50 Time axis: The time scale is indicated. Point the cursor and change the value, then the change will be applied by depressing the Enter key. 0 60 Measurement condition display: The measurement condition is indicated. If the measurement data is opened, the conditions of the displayed data are indicated. 19 0 70 Analysis result display: The analysis result is displayed. 0 80 Command area: Search relating to measurement is performed. The waveform can be copied into the clip board by right-clicking the mouse inside the command area (except the position on the button). Flux application operation only is performed. Flux removal operation only is performed. Measuring operation (dipping into solder pot and lift up operation) only is performed. The process of flux application, removal and measurement is performed in succession. When [MWB] is ON, it will not operate. When check is put on, the temperature control becomes valid, and the temperature will be controlled to the set level. The displayed waveform data is saved. Communication with the SWB-2 main unit connected by the USB cable is turned ON/OFF. 90 Data list window: 10 Y-axis auxiliary line: 0 The analysis result of the data in the file is displayed. Selection of the displayed data in the file can be performed in this window. When check is put on, an auxiliary line will be set on the Y-axis in the waveform window. 20 III-3 Explanation of Each Operation ① Preparation for measurement on main unit side Connect the power cord of SWB-2 main unit, and set the soldering pot (aluminum block), flux container and wiping filter paper. When measuring in nitrogen atmosphere, prepare special cover (option), and perform piping of nitrogen gas and air. Note: For the details of setting and measuring procedures on the main unit side, refer to the instruction manual for the main unit. ② Starting up of main unit Turn on power of the main unit. Depress SETUP on the main unit top panel for zero return. Next, check whether the item (5/5) of MWB in the main unit setting screen is correct. (In the wetting balance method, the MWB item is set to OFF, and when performing optional micro-wetting balance method, the MWB item is set to ON.) When performing heater preheating before connecting the personal computer, confirm the set temperature on the main unit side, then turn on the heater switch of main unit to light up the heating lamp. Optional micro-wetting balance method If solder is not on the iron core of the aluminum block, do not set the set temperature largely higher than the solder melting point. ③ Starting the software on computer Turn on the power of the computer, connect the main unit and computer with an USB cable, and start the software by using the shortcut on desktop (or Start button Program malcom SWB-S2). Directly after starting, the main window only will be displayed. 21 When performing measurement newly Select “Measurement (M) Measurement (M)” from menu, or select “Measurement” on the tool bar. The setting window, data list window and waveform window will be displayed. If the measurement file is opened and setting window is not displayed, select “Display select (D) Measurement condition display (C)” or “Measurement (M) Measurement (M)” from menu, or depress the button on the tool bar for displaying. ④ Setting the measurement conditions Before performing measurement, the measurement conditions must be set on the setting window. Change or confirm the measurement condition, flux application condition and OK/NG judgment condition, then depress OK or Apply button to reflect the entered value. (If not depressed, the values changed or entered will not be reflected in measurement.) For the setting range, refer to the item in III-2-1 Setting window. Setting window (Measurement condition tab) Setting window (Flux application condition tab) Setting Window (OK/NG judgment condition tab) 22 23 ⑤ Heating the solder pot (aluminum block) Before heating the heater, be sure to check the solder pot set temperature. Put a check on the USB check box on the software, and confirm the communication status with the main unit. If communication is made correctly, each real-time data of the load and temperature will be displayed on the monitor window. Put a check on the heater ON check box to start heating. The measurement condition becomes valid by the OK or Apply button. However, the set temperature of the solder pot at the time of heater turning on remains valid. If the set temperature is changed, uncheck the check box once, and then check it again. Optional micro-wetting balance method When performing heating with solder not placed on the iron core of aluminum block (solder is not placed in the shipment), the set temperature must first be set at the level of the melting point of solder. When the set temperature is reached, put solder on the iron core of the aluminum block and melt it down. After melting the solder, re-set the temperature to the desired level. ⑥ Setting the specimen When the set temperature is reached, “Manual measurement” and “Automatic measurement” buttons become selectable. Set measuring specimen to the holder, and then attach the holder to the main unit. Set the flux and wiping filter paper as necessary. Optional micro-wetting balance method Since positioning is required directly before measurement, manual measurement must be selected. If flux application and wiping operations are to be carried out on the main unit, set the flux and wiping filter paper as necessary, and perform operation by using the FLUX remove and FLUX apply buttons. When manually performing flux application and wiping operation, the holder must be set to the main unit after performing these operations. 24 ⑦ Measurement start Wetting balance method Select Automatic measurement on the computer, and then operation will start according to the setting. The automatic measurement and manual measurement buttons remain unselectable if the temperature is raised around the set temperature. When the automatic measurement button is depressed, the following operations will be executed to the specimen. ① Flux application (Movement to the upper side of container, dipping operation, and lifting up after termination of set time) ② Flux removal (Movement to the removal portion, rising of table, and lifting up after making contact) ③ Measurement (Movement to the upper side of solder pot, dipping into solder, and lifting up after termination of set time) ④ Analysis (Transfer of data to computer, and display of analysis result) ⑤ Zero return (Movement to the upper side of flux container, terminating measurement) When separately performing each process (flux application, flux removal, or measurement), depress the desired button (see below) in the command area. ※ When measurement is done using the Manual measurement button, zero return operation in step ⑤ will not be done. 25 Optional micro-wetting balance method For details of procedure, refer to the instruction manual for the micro-wetting balance method. When measuring, the specimen for which flux application (+ removal) has been completed after condition setting is set to the main unit, and the following operations are carried out. (If flux application and removal are to be performed on the main unit side, the relevant buttons in the command area must be used in advance.) 1) Using the cursor key of main unit, move the sensor unit portion over the solder ball on aluminum block. 2) Lift up the table unit to a level where specimen will not contact, and align the specimen measuring portion with the position of the solder ball. Use the cursor key for moving in the right and left direction. (Use the X-Y table for moving in the back and forth direction and for fine adjustment.) 3) After aligning the position correctly, depress the Manual measurement button to start measurement. If the molten solder is not spherical, remove the oxide film from the ball surface by dripping flux directly before measurement. ⑧ Analysis of result The data is automatically sent to the computer after measurement, and the analysis result is displayed. Measurement condition display section Analysis result display section 26 ⑨ Saving of data The measurement data is saved. To save, perform as follows: - File (F) Save (S) on menu - Button on tool bar - Save button on measurement screen. ⑩ Data manipulation One file can save maximum 30 units of measurement data. When two or more units of data are saved, added data is displayed on the list window. (See below.) Saving single data Saving multiple data Changing the displayed waveform (Changing the waveform displayed on the waveform window) Method 1 Double click the data line to be displayed on the data list window to move the light-blue cursor. Method 2 If the data list window is active (window title is in light blue) (by clicking with mouse), changeover can be made continuously up and down by using the cursor key. 27 Display by overlapping (All the data in the file are displayed by overlapping.) Method 1 Move the light-blue cursor to the mean value display section at the bottom of the list. Method 2 Select “Display select (D) Display select (D) Overlapped display (O)” on the menu. Method 3 Depress the button on the tool bar. Deleting the data (Any data in the file can be deleted.) Method 1 When the light-blue cursor is set on the data to be deleted (with the waveform displayed in the window), depress the delete key for deleting. 28 ⑪ ON/OFF setting for Automatic measurement When turning OFF “Automatic” on the setting screen, “Automatic” button will turn inactive to unable to press the button. 29 IV. Waveform Analysis IV-1 Evaluation Parameter Fmax 2/3 Fmax Fend 0 Sb = Fend / Fmax × 100(%) t0 t1 t Fmax: Maximum wetting force. The maximum value of wetting force is indicated. Fend: Final wetting force. The wetting force upon termination of measurement is indicated. t0: The time when wetting starts (zero cross time). The time from measurement start (when the test piece is connected to the solder) to changing of the negative action force to positive (when crossing the zero line) is indicated. t1: Wet up time. This is the time from the intersection with zero line to the 2/3 point of maximum wetting force. t: Wetting time. This is the time from measurement start (when the test piece contacts the solder) to the 2/3 point of the maximum wetting force. Sb: Wet stability: The ratio of final wetting force and the maximum wetting force in percent. Fend/Fmax X 100 (%) 30 IV-2 Analyzing Function IV-2-1 Reference cursor One cursor (Left-click after designating the position by mouse cursor.) The load and time on the cursor are indicated. The position is moved by dragging the cursor after setting the mouse cursor. (Right-click the cursor to terminate the reference cursor.) Two cursors (Designate the position by left-clicking two positions with mouse cursor,) The mean load, load gradient and time between cursors are indicated. First, click the left side point, then click the right side point. Set the mouse cursor to the left cursor and drag, then the cursors will be moved with the distance unchanged. Set the mouse cursor to the right cursor and drag, then the right cursor only will be moved. (To terminate the reference cursor, right-click the cursor.) 31 IV-2-2 Buoyancy correction This function can be validated when controlling the measurement result by SWB-2 main unit with the buoyancy of parts excluded. Because the correction value is obtained by making calculation based on the specific gravity of solder, part size and dipping depth, precise correction is unavailable if the section form of the dipping portion is other than square ■ or round ● (unable to obtain the volume of dipped portion). ① Check buoyancy correction of the measurement condition tab. ② When displaying the line of load 0 to the waveform before correction, check the 0 position display. ③ Enter the shape and size of the specimen being used. ④ Set the specific gravity of the solder being used. ⑤ Depress OK or Apply button, and the correction will be reflected only to the waveform being displayed. Caution: Re-writing of the measurement file will not be performed even when OK or Apply button is depressed. 32 IV-2-3 OK/NG judgment Specify the evaluation parameter and value on the OK/NG judgment tag of the setting window, and it becomes possible to display OK or NG in the data list window. The checked parameter is within the specified range: OK is indicated. The checked parameter is without the specified range: NG is indicated. If two or more parameters are checked and if there is any one falling outside the range, NG will be indicated. After entering the value, judgment will be made to all the data in the file when OK or Apply button is depressed. Caution: The measurement file will not be re-written even when OK or Apply button is depressed. 33 IV-2-4 Parameter display Set the display/nondisplay of t0, t and Fmax on the graph. When the parameter display is ON, * The Fmax line on the graph is the first position of Fmax value looking from the starting point of data. When the parameter display is OFF, 34 IV-2-5 Parameter display compensation Press “Parameter Revision” to display the setting screen for compensation. Input the parameter compensation value to change the value of result. T and Sb are recalculated from the changed value. * When the parameter display is ON and no Fmax value input as compensation, (ex. although you input 0.27mN, no this value and 0.28mN exists), the cursor is displayed at the closer and higher (0.28mN) position. When no compensation value, and no closer and higher value, the cursor will move to the end. * As the compensation data is not saved, press save button to save it, if necessary. 35 V. Data Processing V-1 Reading In and Saving of Data Read-in Select File (F) – Open (O) from the menu. The file saved in the past is opened and the data is displayed on the graph. The file can also be opened by using the icon on tool bar. Saving Select File (F) – Save (S) from the menu. The measured data is saved into the file. The data can also be saved by using the Save button on measurement screen. One file is capable of storing 30 data items. V-2 Measurement Data Conversion and Output V-2-1 Text conversion ① When outputting the analysis result of the measurement data, measurement condition, date, etc. in CSV format (text format) Select File (F) – CSV conversion (T) from the menu. The measurement condition of the file and analysis result are saved in CSV format. (To change the extension to *.TXT, make selection from File type.) Delimiter is a comma. The data format is as follows: SWB file name, File name in CSV (TXT) format, data No, date of measurement, measurement condition, evaluation parameter, comment ② When outputting the load data per time of displayed data in CSV format (text format) Select File (F) – Measurement data CSV conversion (D) from the menu. The displayed data is saved in CSV format after text conversion. (To change the extension to *.TXT, make selection from File type.) Procedure (Be sure to save the data directly after measurement.) 1. Read in the target file, and display the data in waveform graph. 36 2. Select “File (F) Measurement data CSV conversion (D)” from the menu. 3. Supplementary Items VI-1 File Structure The data measured by SWB-S2 and the structure of file are as shown below: Maximum 30 units of data can be recorded in one file. File 1 Data 1 (measurement condition 1, waveform data 1, analysis result 1) Data 2 (measurement condition 2, waveform data 2, analysis result 2) Data 3 (measurement condition 3, waveform data 3, analysis result 3) Data 4 (measurement condition 4, waveform data 4, analysis result 4) Data 5 (measurement condition 5, waveform data 5, analysis result 5) Data 6 (measurement condition 6, waveform data 6, analysis result 6) Data 30 (measurement condition 30, waveform data 30, analysis result 30) For the measurement condition, waveform data and analysis result, each data has its value. As for the measurement time, the most recent measurement condition is valid (this does not matter in continuous measurement under the same condition). If the setting has been changed, depress OK or Apply button on the setting window before starting measurement. (Note) Note: If the past measurement data is displayed, the setting window indicates the condition at the time of waveform measurement. When performing measurement under the displayed condition, it is necessary to depress once the OK or Apply button on the setting window. VI-2 File and Set Value As the measurement condition, the value at the time of measurement is assigned to each measurement data in the file. If the condition is changed with the waveform being displayed and OK or Apply button is depressed, the display is changed, but the value of the original data is not re-written. (The condition after the change is applied to the next measurement.) 38 File 2 Data 1 (measurement condition 1, waveform data 1, analysis result 1) Data 2 (measurement condition 2, waveform data 2, analysis result 2) Data 3 (measurement condition 3, waveform data 3, analysis result 3) Data 4 (measurement condition 4, waveform data 4, analysis result 4) Data 5 (measurement condition 5, waveform data 5, analysis result 5) Change the value in the setting window with the data 4 being displayed (Measurement condition 4 X) (The display changes, but the original file of data 4 is not re-written.) If measurement is done without change, data 6 is measured with measurement condition X, and the waveform data 6 and analysis result 6 are obtained. As for the initial value of OK/NG judgment condition, the value used when the file is first saved is assigned. In actual judgment, “the value of the setting window at the time of depressing OK or Apply button” is used for all the data in the file. This is reflected to the data list, but (even if the condition is changed) the value possessed by the file itself is not re-written. Assume that the initial value inside is ☆, and that the value (after change) in the setting window is ★, then: File 3 ☆ Data 1 (measurement condition 1, waveform data 1, analysis result 1) Data 2 (measurement condition 2, waveform data 2, analysis result 2) Data 3 (measurement condition 3, waveform data 3, analysis result 3) Data 4 (measurement condition 4, waveform data 4, analysis result 4) Data 5 (measurement condition 5, waveform data 5, analysis result 5) Even if changeover of ☆★ is executed before saving, the initial value remains ☆ as far as data is saved in file 3. If saving is made newly in file 4 (another name) by executing ☆★ before saving, the initial value of the file 4 becomes ★. As for the ON/OFF of buoyancy correction and its set value, the status at the time of measurement is assigned to each measurement data in the file. Even if the setting is changed afterward, the original file itself is not re-written. This is the same as the case of OK/NG judgment and measurement condition mentioned above. Different point is that: This change is applied to the waveform data only (that is, the data having cursor in the list), and the change is reflected to the analysis result and waveform display. If saving is executed under the applied status, the data can be saved in the applied status. If saving is executed, the applied data is created newly. 39 Notes 1.
