Course Outcome:
3. Describe Alberta licensing regulations for safety, nutrition, child/staff ratios, and space
requirements.
Instructions: Students will create and design a PowerPoint presentation explains licensing in
Alberta, this is to inform a new childcare worker, a family member or friend who has no prior
knowledge about childcare standards. In your presentation, ensure you outline the key
requirements for licensing including ratio, nutrition, space requirements and safety. What are the
benefits of each for children, families, and childcare educators? How have changes in provincial
and territorial regulations affect Early Childhood programs in recent years? Based on your
experience, how does standards, regulations, and enforcement practices affect quality? How do
these same forces affect your ability to do your job or operate as a professional? What aspects do
you consider to be the most challenging parts of the licensing process?
Requirements:
1. Must follow APA format/style to complete this assignment.
2. It is suggested you cite at least 3 or 4 sources in APA format in-text and include a
reference page at the end of the assignment. Use your textbook as a main resource and
refer to at least 3 other scholarly sources that are within 10 years of the current year.
