■ Accommodation & Address Registration (Anmeldung): Register within 14 days at
Bürgerbüro with passport, housing confirmation, and enrollment certificate.
■ Bank Account / Blocked Account Access: Activate blocked account after Anmeldung.
Open a German Girokonto if needed.
■ Health Insurance: Confirm public insurance (TK, AOK, Barmer) or private insurance with
enrollment + Anmeldung.
■ Residence Permit (Aufenthaltstitel): Apply at Ausländerbehörde within 90 days. Bring
passport, visa, photos, finances, insurance, and Anmeldung.
■ HHL University Steps: Collect student ID, pay semester fees, get semester ticket, join
orientation.
■ Broadcasting Fee (Rundfunkbeitrag): Every household pays ~€18.36/month. Share with
roommates if in WG/apartment.
■ Phone & Internet: Buy SIM card (Vodafone, O2, Telekom, Aldi Talk). Internet may be
included in housing.
■ Finances & Budget: Withdraw blocked account allowance, set up rent & insurance
payments, keep emergency euros.
■ Daily Life Setup: Buy kitchenware/bedding. Install apps: DB Navigator, LeipzigMOVE, HHL
student tools.
