-How tightly matter is packed in a certain
space (packing backpack)
-Mass and volume are used to find density
Mass: how much matter packed (paper)
Volume: space it takes up (backpack)
- Temperature and pressure can affect
density (hot air balloon and gold)
buoyancy
- Buoyancy is the upwards force a fluid puts
on an immersed object (boat)
-The force is equal to the weight of
displaced fluid (bathtub)
- If the object’s density is lower than the fluid,
it will float and density is higher the object
will sink (wood vs rock)
surface tension
- Force that makes the surface of a fluid
behave like a stretched rubber band (weak
trampoline)
-The lack of neighboring molecules above is
what causes it
