Introduction Management Information Systems (MIS) are systems that help organizations
collect, process, store, and distribute information to support decision-making,
coordination, control, analysis, and visualization of business processes. MIS integrates
technology, people, and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in business
operations.
Learning Unit 1: Information Systems in Business - Definition: An information system (IS) is
a combination of people, technology, and processes that manages and processes data to
support business decisions. - Purpose: Improve productivity, efficiency, and
competitiveness. - Components: Hardware, software, data, people, processes. - Types of
IS: Transaction Processing Systems (TPS), Decision Support Systems (DSS), Management
Information Systems (MIS), Enterprise Systems.
Learning Unit 2: Computers and Their Business Applications - Hardware: Physical
components like CPU, memory, storage, input/output devices. - Software: Programs that
process data; includes system software (OS) and application software. - Business
