Lab Report
Objective
The goal of this experiment was to measure human reaction time using a simple drop
test and to analyze factors that may influence the results.
Materials
Ruler (30 cm)
Stopwatch (as backup)
Test subjects (3 students)
Procedure
1. One student held the ruler vertically at the 0 cm mark above another student’s
hand.
2. Without warning, the ruler was released.
3. The subject caught the ruler as quickly as possible.
4. The distance the ruler fell before being caught was recorded.
5. Steps 1–4 were repeated five times per subject.
Discussion
The results showed variation between subjects. Subject C consistently had the
fastest reaction time, while Subject B had the slowest. Factors that may have affected
the results include focus, fatigue, and prior practice. The experiment also showed how
small differences in reaction time can be measured using a simple tool.
Conclusion
This experiment successfully demonstrated how to measure reaction time with
minimal equipment. It also highlighted human variability in response speed.
