Microscopic Description
Sections are examined microscopically, confirming the above diagnosis.
Gross Description
Received in formalin labeled with the patient name and "right ovarian cyst," is a 14 g ovarian cystectomy specimen
received in 3 irregular fragments measuring up to 3.9 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm, with a separately submitted 5 x 4 x 2 cm aggregate
of friable, tan material admixed with hair. The largest piece of tissue is centrally calcified with surrounding pale-tan to fatty,
yellow soft tissue. The smaller tissue fragments are grossly consistent with cyst wall. Representative sections of
noncalcified soft tissue from the largest fragment are submitted in cassette A1 and representative sections of cyst wall are
submitted in cassette A2. (BH)
