Pick-up Location:
The first place where I collected my first rock is at the UNB SJ campus. The pick-up site was
located in proximity to Hans W. Klohn Commons building, south of Tucker Park Road. The
immediate area consists of pedestrian walkways connected to the main campus road network,
with another two buildings nearby. The second place where I collected my last two rocks is
outside but right close to UNB SJ campus, in the nearby forest behind the curb of the Tucker
Park Road, across from the closet bus stop to campus. The pick-up site was bordered on
three sides by Tucker Park Road, and the north side by a secondary road connected to the
Tucker Park Road.
Description of Rocks:

The rock is predominantly brown with dense ivory specks. It measures approximately 6 cm in
length, 3 cm in width, and 4 cm in height for maximum dimension, and with a sub-angular
shape. The rock is mainly fine grained, with about 20% medium grains, which are tightly
packed with minimal space, though small cavities are present. The grains, which are
distributed equally throughout the rock, are mostly medium in shape between round and
square and vary in colour, ivory, earthy yellow, or translucent-white, with a single dark-brown
stripe-shaped grain. Three main types of grains are arranged, including very fine earthyyellow grains in approximate 40%, fine ivory grains in approximate 40%, and medium
translucent-white grains in approximate 20%, with one unique dark-brown stripe-shaped
grain. The long axes of grains oriented more parallel to each other.

The colour of this rock is pink, with tense gray specks evenly dispersing on the whole surface.
It measures approximately 6cm ×3.5cm×2.5cm for maximum dimension in a triangular
pyramid shape and is very fine grained. Pink grains take account of approximately 60% and
with gray grains for 40% in the shape of stripe, while distributed equally throughout the rock.
The long axes of grains oriented more parallel to each other.

The colour of this rock is earthy yellow, with small lead-gray specks dispersing on the surface
but in distinct intensities. It consists of one smooth curved surface with gentle edges and two
rough flat fracture surfaces on which there are three hard edges. It measures approximately
in 5cm ×7cm×1.5cm for maximum dimension. The only single type of grains in earthy yellow
are arranged extremely fine. It seems that the specks are not from the existing grains, while
it’s the stains left by external physical actions after the formation of this rock. The long axes
of grains oriented more parallel to each other.
