Introduction
Scenario: Sasha plans a vacation with her friends each year. This year, she selected an
expensive resort, but found that her friends struggle to find affordable transportation due to
their location. After researching, Sasha discovered more cost effective options that offer the
same experience. She is considering three resorts: AC Hotels, Jamaica, Fiesta Sol Caribe Playa
Los Corals, Punta Cana and Castaway Resort & Suites, Nassau.
Choosing a cost-effective vacation destination can be a challenging yet rewarding task,
especially when weighing options between Jamaica and international destinations. This analysis
explores how to maximize value while minimizing expenses for travellers seeking an affordable
yet enriching getaway. Jamaica, with its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and diverse
activities, presents a compelling case for a budget-friendly vacation. On the other hand,
exploring abroad offers a range of options that could potentially provide greater cost savings or
unique experiences. By comparing various factors such as accommodation costs, local expenses,
and travel deals, this overview aims to identify the most cost-effective destination for an
unforgettable vacation. Whether staying within Jamaica or venturing overseas, the goal is to
find a destination that provides the best balance of affordability and adventure.This SchoolBased Assessment aims to investigate the prices of each hotel from the countries chosen and
expenses which will be obtained via the internet and presented throughout the research. The
objective of this research is also aimed to calculate each expense to which Sasha and her friends
have to pay and determine which country's family vacation is most cost-effective. The student
researchers intend to create a Google Forms questionnaire with 10 multiple choice questions
and distribute it over WhatSapp. The researchers will also use the Internet to obtain
information. Graphs and tables will be used to interpret the data. The material and the statistics
from the questionnaire will then be compared and conclusions will be drawn. This topic was
chosen by the researchers because it will aid in the development of their mathematical and
comprehension skills and also to inform people about the different countries and their costs.

Method of Collecting Data
Throughout the period of 3months from December 28th 2023 to February 9th 2023 for this
research was collected via Travel Sites such as Orbitz.com and also Questionnaire. The
researcher examined the hotels from AC Hotels in Jamaica, Fiesta Sol Caribe Playa Corals in
Punta Cana and Castaways Resorts & Suites and the different expenses which Sasha and her
friends could be paying for this information. Through this study with the use of calculations
and mathematical equations. A questionnaire of 10 question (9 multiples choice questions
and 1 short answer question).

Countries Cost Difference
To conclude, we calculated the expenses for each country and determined the cost differences
between them. Based on the students' observations, Jamaica emerged as the most affordable option
among the four countries for planning a family vacation, while the Bahamas was identified as the
priciest. To ascertain the cost disparity, we subtracted the expense figures of each country from those
of the others.

Angles of the Pie Chart
The pie chart used in the Presentation of Data, represents the areas in which the
respondents from the questionnaire think have the highest cost. The figures included 45%
being the Highest, 32.5%, 7.5% and 5% being the lowest. The pie chart has the shape of a
circle and angles in a circle equates to 360°. The angles of the pie chart were calculated by
dividing each percentage by 90 and multiplying it by 360°.

Discussion of Findings
Based on our analysis, Castaways Resort and Suites in the Bahamas emerged as
the most budget-friendly option for a family vacation compared to the AC Hotel
in Jamaica and Fiesta Sol Caribe Playa Los Corals, which were more expensive.
The overall cost for a vacation at Castaways Resort and Suites is JMD
224,765.43, which is the only option fitting within the JMD 300,000 budget.
In contrast, a vacation in Jamaica would be JMD 351,048.96 more expensive
than the Bahamas option but still presents a viable choice. Specifically, Jamaica
is approximately JMD 307,670.38 more affordable than Fiesta Sol Caribe Playa
Los corals in the Bahamas but less expensive compared to Castaways Resort
and Suites.
Interestingly, survey results indicate that despite the cost differences, a majority
of respondents preferred the Fiesta Sol Caribe Playa Los corals in the Bahamas
over the AC Hotel in Jamaica. This preference highlights the importance of
researching and comparing various hotels when planning an economical family
vacation.
Additionally, it is crucial to consider seasonal variations, as costs for lodging,
transportation, and other expenses can fluctuate significantly depending on the
time of year. The research faced challenges such as price changes, which
required frequent updates to the data as hotel rates were adjusted.
In summary, while the Bahamas offers the most affordable option within the
specified budget, Jamaica provides a cost-effective alternative. Proper planning
and timely research are essential for ensuring the best possible value for a
family vacation.

Conclusion
Our research has determined that Castaways Resort and Suites in the Bahamas
is the most economical choice for a family vacation, costing JMD 224,765.43,
which fits comfortably within the JMD 300,000 budget. In comparison, a
vacation in Jamaica, although more expensive by JMD 351,048.96, remains a
viable and cost-effective option, especially considering it avoids international
flight costs.
Fiesta Sol Caribe Playa Los Corals in the Bahamas, while preferred by many
survey respondents for its appeal, is significantly pricier, being JMD 307,670.38
more expensive than a vacation in Jamaica.
These findings underscore the importance of thorough research and comparison
when planning a family vacation, particularly with regards to seasonal price
variations. Additionally, price fluctuations during the research period
highlighted the need for up-to-date information to make informed decisions.
