FINC3470 GROUP ASSIGNMENT
Students can form their own groups, each containing maximum 5 people. We aim to have a
total of 9 groups.
Each group’s assignment/project will include TWO parts:
One textbook end-of-chapter mini-case, AND
One Cost of Capital WACC calculation question, for an actual company.
Mini-case topics include, but are not limited to, (a) long-term financial planning & growth; (b)
project NPV analysis; (c) impact of financial leverage; and (d) corporate dividend policy.
Please confirm your selected assignment with me as soon as possible. The priority will be
given to those who selected a topic sooner.

WACC calculation question subject companies will be publicly traded Canadian companies,
whose equity and debt information can be extracted from credible sources.
Tuesday Oct 28th (via Zoom): Groups 1 and 2. Other groups do not need to attend. All
presentations and will be recorded.
Thursday Oct 30th (via Zoom): Groups 3 and 4. Other groups do not need to attend. All
presentations and will be recorded.
Tuesday Nov 4th (via Zoom): Groups 5 and 6. Other groups do not need to attend. All
presentations and will be recorded.
Thursday Nov 6th (via Zoom): Groups 7, 8 and 9. Other groups do not need to attend. All
presentations and will be recorded.

In your group presentation, you should:
Clearly answer the questions you have been asked to address, for instance by
describing the process of your calculations,
Clearly state and briefly discuss all the key assumptions you have made,
Provide summary tables/graphs of your analysis,
Include key formulas that you have used,
If applicable, in an appendix, list any reference articles and/or other sources that
you have used, AND
Answer any questions raised by the Instructor and/or other students that relate to
your group’s assignment.
