Thermodynamics (MECH.2420)
1. A cylindrical metallic container with a height of 1 meter and a diameter
of 0.5 meters is filled with oil. The density of the oil is 850 kg/m³. Calculate
the total weight of the container with oil in Newtons. Assume the mass of
the empty container is 2.5 kg.
2. A resistance heater consumes 1.5 kW of power and operates continuously
for 30 days. The cost of electricity varies: for the first 10 days, it's $0.15 per
kWh, for the next 10 days, it's $0.20 per kWh, and for the last 10 days, it's
$0.25 per kWh. Calculate the total cost ($) of operating the heater for the 30
days.

3. Calculate the weight of a 200 kg object on Mars. The gravitational
acceleration on Mars is approximately 3.71 m/s².
4. A rectangular swimming pool measures 10 meters in length, 5 meters in
width, and 2 meters in depth. A hose fills the pool at a rate of 13.21
gallons/min. Calculate the time (h) required to fill the pool. Consider a 10%
loss of water due to evaporation and splashing.
