Guide to writing a motivational letter
A motivational letter is used to describe why you are the perfect candidate for a certain
position.
Note that your resume highlights previous accomplishments, such as your study background,
work history, awards, or any other achievements. However, a cover letter is intended to be
more aspirational - so feel free to express things like:
•
Why you are choosing to do the internship and what you hope to achieve.
•
Any relevant experience or qualifications that make you suitable for the internship.
•
Any preferences you might have (just bear in mind that preferences are subject to
availability).
•
What you'd like to learn.
•
Any short-term and/or long-term goals you have.
•
What your ideal career progression would look like.
This just needs to be a one-page document and it can be addressed, "to whom it may
concern."
There are lots of professional-looking "cover letter" templates you can also search for online if
you want some guidance or inspiration. You could look in Google Sheets templates and/or
Microsoft Word templates too.
If you have any questions, or need further guidance, please feel free to get in touch with your
program manager! We are happy to help!
