Be Proactive! Work Ahead!
• You can’t utilize the large volume of help
available if you begin working 2 hours before
your deadline.
• Plan on working ahead and studying days (not
hours) before exams.
• Plan/schedule specific times to work on this
course (you will submit this schedule on
Canvas)
• Get used to asking questions; it is an
important part of the learning process.
• Read, practice, get help, reread, practice, get
help,…
Your Teacher and the peer tutors
• This is an active learning course, not a passive one
• You can join me any time I have office hours (no
appointment necessary)
• You can ask the peer tutors for help with anything in
the course anytime tutoring is available
• Expect us to have a conversation with you to build
on what you already know, ask leading questions,
to give you something to work on, and to refer you
to the section of the text relevant to your question.
• Expect the tutor to remain with you only until you
are ready to continue with the next step on your
own.
Peer Tutors on Zoom (non-Lab)
• The Peer Tutors on Zoom WILL…
• Help you answer questions about lesson
material, practice problems, and calculator use as
long as you are not actively taking a graded quiz.
• The Peer Tutors on Zoom WILL NOT…
• Answer questions about grading or deadlines.
Those questions should go to your course
instructor…Me!
