COURSEWORK 2
Essay Title:
In many parts of the world, the problem of an unequal distribution of income is growing.
The OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) estimates that the
average income of the richest 10% of the population is about nine times that of the
poorest 10% across OECD countries, up from seven times 25 years ago. In terms of
poverty, in 2013 the World Bank estimated that 767million people across the world lived
on less than $1.90 per day.
Evaluate the effectiveness of government policy to reduce inequality and
poverty through making the tax system more progressive.
