The medical ailment I chose was pain in my hands and I chose to sculpt a hand. I chose
this because my hands have held the most pain and have the most stories to tell in the
scars I have. More specifically, I chose my hands because they’ve held the weight of my
dog when she was sick and they held the hands of others when they were sad, and
they’ve held onto all the negative experiences. I sculpted this by first tracing my hand
and then once I had that part done, I looked at my hand to find the small details such as
little scars and marks on my hands. I did have to do this a few times, but I eventually got
it to the point that I liked how it looked and left it the way it was. I can empathize with
someone from this time period because I can understand why people would make a
sculpture of an ailment they’d want to cure. This activity gave me insight into Greek
artwork because it helps you understand the relationship to the human body and how
much value they put into the human body.
