Plan of Investigation
The topic that my group has chosen for the English SBA is “The use of Illegal drugs”
and I have chosen the subtopic of “The Effects of Drugs on an Adults’ Physical Health.”
This subtopic was chosen as I am interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the
effect that drugs have on the body.This SBA project will benefit me by broadening my
vocabulary and improving my presentation skills. The Research and Collection of the
necessary information will be doen using online .
Reflection 2
In the first artifact the author uses Statistics and Real-Life Data “Cocaine accounted for
31% of all visits to the emergency department related to drug misuse or abuse.” This
helps students quantify the impact and recognize patterns that relate cocaine to
cardiovascular distress. The second artifact had the author use Medical and Lay Terms
“cold turkey” and “kicking the habit” These terms make the text more relatable and
understandable for readers without a medical background. Finally, the Third artifact the
author uses contextualization “Pennsylvania is considered the epicenter of the xylazine
crisis.” This helps students place information on a larger scale, making it easier to grasp
the topic's significance and scope.
Reflection 3
This English SBA project has helped me to gain a deeper understanding of one of the
problems plaguing the world. Working in a group was a positive experience as it helped
me to improve my teamwork skills through assisting and receiving assistance from the
other group members. In terms of what I took away from the Entire experience, my
writing and vocabulary has certainly improved and expanded respectively, my selfdiscipline and ability to meet deadlines has also dramatically improved as compared to
before I started the SBA project. Finally, Researching the information necessary for my
part of the project has improved my research skills as I learned different ways to sift
through long articles to find the necessary information that I require.
