)Plumbing System Course (
Plumbing System contents
• During the course one project will
applied step by step (hotel cad
project) and another project ( villa
cad project) will applied as tasks and
supervised during the course and
finally submitted as final project at
the end of the course in addition to
Revit project (admin building) to be
applied.
Lecture (1) (2 hours):
- Tender submission documents and project life cycle.
- Plumbing introduction, main definitions and plumbing
fixtures
- Understanding and reading architecture drawings.
- Cold water supply systems.
- Water tank types with hook up details.
- Building water demand with water tank calculations.
- Applying on hotel cad project.

Lecture (2) (2 hours):
- Cold water pipe sizing.
- Pipe material, valves, joining method and hangars.
- Selection from catalogues.
- Applying on hotel cad project.

Lecture (3) (2 hours):
- Calculations of water pump flow, and head requirements.
- Booster pump selection with pump room details and pumps
setting.
- Applying on hotel cad project.
- Hot water system (system types).
- Heaters types and capacity calculations.
- Applying on hotel cad project.

Lecture (4) (2 hours):
- Central heating system.
- Circulating pump with storage tank calculations (head and
flow).
- Circulating pump with storage tank selection from
catalogues.
- Pipe sizing methods for central heating system.
- Applying on hotel cad project.
- Hydraulic test for supply network.

Lecture (5) (2 hours):
- Revise tasks and discuss issues on villa project and know how
to :
❖ Legends and symbols + Make riser diagram.
❖ Typical toilet details + enlarged pump room layout +
installation details.
❖ BOQ including all cold and hot water items.
❖ Comply with project technical specifications.

Lecture (6) (2 hours):
- Intro to drainage system (sewage, storm, vent) systems.
- Drainage piping system (one pipe, single stack, two pipe
system, modified one pipe system, sovent system).
- Drainage piping system design (Pipes material, pipe sizing
criteria, joining method).
- Critical drainage connections and hydraulic jump.
- Applying on hotel cad project.
- Hydraulic test.

Lecture (7) (2 hours):
- Interceptor use, calculations and selection from catalogue
❖ (Grease, oil, lint, Neutralization tank, sand)
interceptors.
❖ Applying on hotel cad project.
- Plumbing specialties considerations
❖ (CO, WCO, FCO, FD, GT, RT, and FFD) considerations
and selection.
❖ Inspection, sedimentation and slowdown chamber
design.
❖ Applying on hotel cad project.

Lecture (8) (2 hours):
- Forced discharging drain design
❖ Submersible pump calculations and selection from
catalogue.
❖ Sump pit sizing and considerations.
❖ Connection to main drainage line.
❖ Applying on hotel cad project.
- Venting system design:
❖ Traps design (P-trap, S- trap, gully trap).
❖ Piping system (Individual vent, common vent, circuit
vent, wet vent).
❖ Venting pipe sizing.
❖ Applying on hotel cad project.
- Storm system design:
❖ Distribution criteria.
❖ pipe sizing
❖ Connection to infra network.
❖ Applying on hotel cad project.

- Revise tasks and discuss issues on villa project and know how
to :
❖ Legends and symbols + Make drain stacks and risers
diagram.
❖ Typical toilet details + installation details.
❖ BOQ including all drainage items.
❖ Comply with project technical specifications.

Lecture (10) (2 hours):
- Swimming pools types.
- Pump room equipment and hook up.
- Filter sizing and selection.
- Heater & cooler calculations and selection.
- Balance tank sizing.
- Chemical dosing & UV sizing and selection from catalogue.
- Applying on hotel cad project.

Lecture (11) (2 hours):
- Intro to fountains design and calculations.
- Revise tasks and discuss issues on villa project and know how
to :
❖ Make flow diagram.
❖ Installation details.
❖ BOQ including all swimming pool system items.
❖ Comply with project technical specifications.

Lecture (12) (2 hours):
- Plumbing Revit project including know how to :
❖ Open project files and intro to templates ad piping
systems.
❖ Basic view properties and navigation tools.
❖ Basic modeling tools (create pipes with slopes, place
valves and equipment, move, copy, align, trim, mirror).
❖ Complete plumbing library for all needed families and
templates.

Lecture (13) (2 hours):
❖ Continue main tools and Applying on admin Revit project.
❖ Discuss all needed relayed issues about course content an
addition to final submission of villa project and rating.
