The controlling unit for an electric vehicle charger, as disclosed herein,
functions as the central control apparatus that orchestrates and regulates the
charging process. The controlling unit comprises one or more processors
operable to execute control logic configured to monitor and manage signal
exchanges between the charger and the electric vehicle, including but not
limited to status communications for current, voltage, temperature, fault
detection, and battery state-of-charge (SOC) feedback. The controlling unit is
further configured to negotiate authentication protocols (e.g., payment
verification and vehicle identity exchange), to enforce safety measures such as
over-current protection, insulation monitoring, and emergency shutdown, and to
facilitate smart charging functions including load balancing and scheduling. In
some embodiments, the controlling unit operates in hardware, software,
firmware, or combinations thereof, and may employ programmable logic
devices (e.g., microcontrollers, ASICs, FPGAs) integrated with memory storing
non-transitory computer-readable instructions. Features disclosed herein may
