Schedule for advanced credit exams:

1. Credit by Exam Policy
a. CIT majors may take all test-out exams offered
b. CIT minor may receive up to 6 credit hours from CNIT test-out exams that
count toward their minor (CIT majors cannot minor in CIT)
c. A score of 70% or higher is required to pass the exam
d. To be eligible for credit by exam a student must:
1. not have received a grade including W or directed credit in the course
or previously failed the test out exam
2. successfully completed the prerequisite course(s) or test out exam if
taking the CNIT 25501 or CNIT 27200 exam
e. If a student does not pass the written portion of the CNIT 18000 or CNIT
18200 exam, they cannot register for the lab portions
f. For beginning of semester test outs – You cannot be registered past week 2
– plan ahead if taking the CNIT 15501 or 27200 exam! We recommend taking
this on Monday or Tuesday to allow time for manual grading
1. If enrolled and pass the test out, student must drop the course – it will
NOT be automatically dropped if credit is posted.
g. For mid-semester test outs – credit will apply to this semester, allowing
post-requisite course registration next semester. For example, taking the
CNIT 15501 test out will apply credit to Fall 2025 semester, allowing
enrollment in Spring 26 or Summer26 CNIT 25501

Registration
Online registration is required, and students use the Advanced Credit Checklist (Form
231) to ensure that they have completed all registration steps. Walk-ins are not allowed.

Exam Fee
Please ensure you are ready and able to attend your appointment time. The Advanced
Credit fee of $35 is non-refundable, and your invoice number will be associated with your
appointment. If you do not show, cancel or reschedule your appointment, you agree to
forfeit the fee

Present this form when you arrive to test. You must have a separate form for each authorized exam. The form you bring for your test
must have been filled out and signed by your academic advisor within the current academic year. No outdated forms will be accepted.
Eligibility Requirements:
o Students may only attempt an Advanced Credit Exam if:
▪ They have not received a grade (other than a W) in the course
▪ They are not enrolled in the course beyond the 4th week of the semester.
o Chemistry Exams
▪ CHM 11200
• Must have credit for CHM 11100 (or equivalent)
▪ CHM 11610 and CHM 11620
• Must have credit in CHM 11510 and CHM 11520 or CHM 11530 (or equivalent)
OR
• CHM 11100 and CHM 11200
o CNIT Exams
▪ CNIT 10500
• Only CIT minors and non-majors
▪ CNIT 25501
• Must have credit for CNIT 10500, CNIT 15501, or CS 15800/15900/17700/18000
▪ CNIT 27200
• Must have credit for CNIT 10500, CNIT 15501, or CS 15800/15900/17700/18000

• Credit for CNIT 18000 or CNIT 18200

This version of the Form 231 is only for use by Purdue Testing Services for the CHM, CNIT, and CS 159 advanced credit
exams. All other advanced credit exams are administered through their respective departments and may have different
requirements. For more information, please contact the appropriate department directly.

Advanced Credit Checklist
To be eligible for advanced credit testing, you must complete the following steps:
Print the Form 231 and meet with your academic advisor to have it completed.
Pay the Purdue Credit by Exam fee and schedule your test at
https://www.registerblast.com/purduetest/Exam/List. This fee is non-refundable.
On test day, you must bring the following items for admission:
Completed Form 231
Photo ID
Approved calculator (if allowed). Calculators will not be provided by the Purdue Testing Services.
Please be aware:
Breaks are not allowed during the exam. Please attend to personal business before reporting to the
Testing Center.
Electronic devices are not allowed in the testing room unless otherwise approved by the
Disability Resource Center (DRC). This includes cell phones, laptops, tablets, music players,
headphones, recording devices, electronic storage devices, translators, watches, fitness trackers, etc.
You will forfeit your registration fee and may lose your opportunity to test this semester if:
▪ You register for a test for which you are not eligible
▪ You do not attend the test session for which you registered
▪ You cannot be admitted because you arrive late
▪ You cannot be admitted because you did not complete the required steps listed above
▪ You access a non-approved calculator or other prohibited item(s) during the exam
