COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process that improves how architects, engineers and
construction professionals design and construct buildings. Students will explore how to plan,
organize and model building elements using Autodesk Revit software while learning fundamental
modeling processes and project workflows. While building comprehensive three-dimensional (3D)
models, students will utilize the BIM to generate concept drawings, construction documents – plans,
elevations, sections, details, schedules and 3D views of architectural projects. This course is a
prerequisite for other courses in the program.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL):
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) refers to a set of processes that allow individuals to document,
be assessed and gain recognition for their prior learning. The focus is on the learning rather than
where or how the learning occurred. Knowledge, skills and abilities gained from life experiences may
be formal (transfer credit), informal or non-formal. RRC Polytech evaluates and grants credit for
qualifying prior learning that is equivalent to the learning outcomes for courses in a program. For

Recording in class:
In order to record any or all learning activities, either through audio recording, using video or still
photographs, students must first obtain permission of their instructor. Such recording shall be for
personal study and shall not be retransmitted in any way shape in form, including, without limitation,

Classroom Policies:

Assignments are expected to be handed in on time.

the end of the semester, whichever comes first.
