I have often asked myself: who am I? Who am I beyond the labels that my surroundings gives me?
Once you spoke my name everybody would define and describe me based on what they always seen as
me—a person that is responsible, strong, and smart. Beyond these labels I believe that I should’nt be
defined by what people often see—I should be defined by my values, strengths, and the way I live my life
to the fullest.
Beyond those labels, I am a woman full of ambition and audacity. No amount of rejection, people’s
opinions, judgement, failure, and doubt could ever make me backdown. I always continue to learn and
discover myself in everywhere I can. I carries a qualities that is not visible such as being creative, working
hard to get my goals, being accountable for my actions, and my desired to grow. I am not just a child of my
parents or a student, but a person with dreams and unique experiences that shapes who I am.
The things that shape my identity are my strengths and weaknesses. My strengths such as problemsolving, lots of patience, determination, and adaptability helps me from the setbacks I faced in my life. On
the other hand, my weaknesses like overthinking and sensitivity over the things that I cannot control,
sometimes hold me back from the opportunities that could help myself grow. However, these strengths
and weaknesses both shaped me because it tells me that there are some areas of me that I still have to
improve.
Growing up in a family that values respect, faith in God, Integrity, and the culture that we grow up
has taught me to be considerate to others. Meanwhile, my community reminds me that I am part of
something bigger than myself. Luckily, I am surrounded by people with positive perspective in life and that
helps me to grow and be motivated in life.
My determination to be a successful person and my faith in God helps shape my character, guide
me in decision making, and provide a sense of purpose and meaning. I learned what is right and wrong
from those around us. These values I have affect the choices I make, from how I work towards my goals. It
serves as a guide whenever I face setbacks.
When it comes to facing my problems, first thing I do is to go to church and pray to God and ask for
guidance. Sometimes when I feel discouraged, I’m reminding myself that everything happens for a reason
that challenges are opportunities to learn. The way I face the challenges, it shows that I may not be strong
every time, but I am still willing to try and keep moving forward.
To conclude, I am more than just a name and the roles I play in my society. The growth, the version
of myself is shaped by my strengths and weaknesses, my family and the culture, and values. Knowing these
