Professional Practice Record
In this section, you are required to record what you learnt from professional
practice including company visit and academic report.
1. At least cover three companies and one academic report.
2. At least 200 words for each company or academic report.
Example:
1.
Visit Shenzhen Tencent Computer System Co.
What you learnt from visiting Shenzhen Tencent Computer System. ( 200+
words)
During our visit to Tencent’s Shenzhen headquarters, I was deeply impressed by the
scale of the company and the level of technological advancement in its working
environment. We were guided through various departments, including the AI lab, cloud
services division, and the gaming innovation studio. The AI Lab introduced us to how
Tencent is using machine learning in medical imaging and voice recognition, especially
in applications like AI-powered diagnosis. In the cloud department, engineers explained
the structure of Tencent Cloud and its applications in supporting small to large-scale
businesses across China.
Most fascinating to me was the gaming studio where we saw demonstrations of how
games like Honor of Kings are developed, tested, and maintained. They emphasized the
importance of iterative design, large-scale testing, and user feedback integration. The
visit made me realize how deeply embedded Tencent is in Chinese daily digital life and
how many technological disciplines work together to support such services. It gave me a
clearer picture of the demand for interdisciplinary talents in AI, big data, and software
development.
2.
Visit ASML Brion Technologies Shenzhen Co.
What you learnt from visiting ASML Brion Technologies Shenzhen Co. (200+
words)
ASML Brion is a leader in photolithography and semiconductor production solutions.
During the visit, we were briefed about the key role the company plays in the
semiconductor manufacturing chain, especially in terms of lithography simulation and

computational patterning. I learned how ASML’s technology is crucial for producing
ever-smaller and more efficient microchips, which are the foundation of modern
electronics.
The engineers showed us software simulation tools used to predict the behavior of
photolithographic processes. It was fascinating to see the blend of physics, software
engineering, and advanced manufacturing that goes into developing a single generation
of chips. I was especially intrigued by their use of AI and computational modeling to
improve yield and efficiency. The visit underscored how the semiconductor industry is
not just about hardware but also deeply software-driven, which aligns closely with my
study in computer science. It has motivated me to explore how Python and data analysis
skills can be applied in hardware design and optimization.
3.
Visit XX Co.
What you learnt from visiting XX Co. (200+ words)
The visit to XX.Co introduced us to a company involved in smart technology systems
and automation solutions. Although not as widely known as some other firms, XX.Co
plays a vital role in applying innovative technologies to industry, particularly in
automation control, smart sensors, and environmental data systems.
During the visit, the team presented how their solutions help improve industrial
processes such as waste management, smart building control, and industrial safety
monitoring. We saw how sensors are integrated into larger networks, how collected data
is analyzed in real-time, and how the system adapts based on conditions. It was
impressive to see practical engineering and programming coming together to solve very
applied problems.
This visit gave me insight into how computer science can be applied not just in
consumer-facing tech, but also in areas like environmental tech and industrial
automation. It broadened my view of what roles a computer science student might
pursue after graduation. We visited the production floor and observed some of the
automated assembly and calibration processes used for drone manufacturing. In their
testing lab, we saw how flight stability and sensor accuracy are tested under simulated
environmental conditions. One of the most interesting parts was their AI-powered object
recognition system that enables intelligent obstacle avoidance in drones.
This visit made me realize how engineering, programming, control systems, and AI all
intersect in a product like a drone. It inspired me to consider robotics and embedded
systems as a future career path, as it represents a dynamic and impactful intersection of
hardware and software.

Academic Report by Prof.Li Yuan.
What you learnt for 3. Academic Report by Prof.Li Yuan(200+ words)
Prof. Li Yuan delivered a lecture on the evolution of cloud computing and its growing
role in supporting enterprise infrastructure, data storage, and artificial intelligence
applications. He explained the key characteristics of cloud computing, including
scalability, elasticity, cost-efficiency, and its service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
The most insightful part of the lecture was when he discussed how cloud computing is
enabling startups and small businesses to access powerful computing infrastructure
without large investments. He also shared case studies of companies in Shenzhen using
hybrid cloud to manage sensitive data while still leveraging the scalability of public
clouds.
He emphasized that future computer science graduates must understand distributed
systems, containerization (like Docker), and cloud deployment platforms such as AWS,
Tencent Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud. This made me realize how important cloud literacy
is for my professional future, and I intend to pursue certifications or hands-on cloud
projects using Python and cloud APIs.

2 Thinkings
In this section, write down you thinkings for your future study and career plan after
you attend the professional practice. (300+ words)
Through this professional practice experience, I’ve gained a broader perspective on my
studies and career direction. Instead of seeing courses as isolated subjects, I now
understand how they contribute to solving real problems in the tech industry.
In the future, I plan to focus on building my technical foundation in both software
development and applied technologies. I aim to improve my programming skills,
particularly in Python, and explore how they can be used in areas like cloud computing,
automation, and data analysis. I am also investing time this summer into learning
Chinese more seriously so that I can communicate more effectively in a
Chinese-speaking work environment.
My career goal is to become a versatile software engineer who can adapt to different
tech sectors—whether it's embedded systems, AI applications, or enterprise cloud
solutions. To achieve this, I plan to pursue internships, complete personal tech projects,
and earn certifications in areas like cloud platforms and Python programming.
Overall, this practice has helped clarify the path I want to follow and the skills I need to
build along the way.
