Dear Hiring Manager,
I am excited to apply for the Mechanical Engineering Intern position at K2 Space in Los
Angeles. I am a second-year Aerospace Engineering student at UT Austin, and I enjoy working
on fast-paced engineering projects that challenge me to design, analyze, and build hardware
that solves real problems.
As a member of Longhorn Racing’s Formula SAE Combustion team, I designed and modeled
suspension components in SolidWorks, ran FEA and topology studies in Ansys, and
programmed CNC machines to manufacture precision parts that reduced weight while improving
strength. Last year, I interned at UT Austin’s Applied Research Laboratories, where I ran
experiments on marine sediments, operated advanced lab equipment, and used MATLAB to
model acoustic properties. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in CAD, FEA,
testing, and hands-on manufacturing, while teaching me how to bridge theory with real-world
application.
I am drawn to K2 Space because of your mission to rethink spacecraft design for the new era of
launch vehicles. I would be excited to bring my technical skills, curiosity, and collaborative
mindset to your team, while learning from K2’s engineers and contributing to building the next
generation of spacecraft.
Thank you for considering my application. I would be excited to talk more about how I can
contribute to K2 Space.
Sincerely,
Sridhanush Mittapalli
