Project 1: Due date September 26th, 2025
• What do you need to do in the project 1?
Find a research topic and write a two-page (single-space, size 12, Times New Roman) research
proposal. Research Topics could be selected from the following areas, or you could choose
anything you are interested in within power and energy systems or smart grid.
Grid Resilience with AI & Smart Monitoring
Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP)
Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) & Electrified Infrastructure
Renewable Forecasting for Grid Stability
Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) & Distributed Flexibility
Digital Twins in Power Grids
AI-Driven Surge in Power Demand
Grid Stability & Unexpected Disconnects
Short-Term Load Forecasting for AI Data Centers
• In your proposal, you should:
Finalize your research topic (Title of your research paper).
Specify the background of the topic. (Why this topic is important)
Show the procedure of your research work. (How are you going to conduct the research?)
Show what is your expectation from this research project? (What are you going to find out or
learn from this project?)
Include all references in IEEE citation format.
