Reflection Paper
What have you learned from Fr. Leo Patalinghug?
In the video, Fr. Leo talked about how we could have a greater friendship with God. What
I learned from him are: we should be open to God and trust His plans. God knows what is the best
for us even though they seem like the hardest thing to be done in our lives. To establish greater
relationship with Christ, we should spend more time with Him, and compromise for Him; we
should pray, study, and celebrate with Him. Another thing that I learned from him is that the
struggles and challenges we are going through, when we face those things with God and through
God, we become better versions of ourselves. And to become more immersed in the Faith, we
should surround ourselves with people who are into the faith, and people who motivates us to
become better.
What is your experience of faith that can or maybe related to Fr. Leo's faith experience?
In the experience of Fr. Leo, I can relate in the ways how we can establish a strong
relationship with God. When I was still in Junior High School, I was brought by my best friend
with her to the CCF (Center for Christian Formation) office without me knowing that she was
applying to be a lector for the Parish. When we were there, I was asked by a minister if I would
also want to join but as a Knight of the Altar (Sacristan), I agreed because I thought that it would
be a good learning experience for me which will also enrich my faith. Since then, I felt closer to
God, and even closer when I was serving the Church.
What are the factors that strengthened your faith in your daily life?
There are many factors in our lives that strengthen our faith but for me it will be my family,
challenges I've been through, and goals. My family's well-being always strengthens my faith, I
give thanks to God every day for their safe arrival at our home, for their good health (mentally and
physically), for their joy, and for our completeness. The challenges I've been through are the proof
that God has always been with me since I was born; He gave me the strength and courage to face,
and go through those challenges. Lastly, my goals, every day I pray to God that maybe someday I
would be able to reach those goals, and every day I give him thanks because I can see some
progress in-line with those goals of mine.
