PRECLUDING DEVELOPING NATIONS FROM
REACHING SDG 4 GOALS
 SDG 4 is an important objective that must be met for any
country to improve its quality of life and promote its

SIGNIFICANT OBSTACLES THAT PREVENT NIGERIA
FROM ACCOMPLISHING THIS OBJECTIVE
 Poor school infrastructure (Lawrence, Ihebuzor and Lawrence, 2020)
 Low school enrollment and drop- out rate (Lawrence, Ihebuzor and Lawrence,
2020)
 Inadequate funding (Lawrence, Ihebuzor and Lawrence, 2020)
KEY AREAS OF SDG 4 CHALLANGES
 1) Children and teenagers are not at least proficient in reading and maths.

 2) The majority of schools in Sub-Saharan Africa lack access to
computers, the internet, and basic drinking water facilities. (Lawrence,
Ihebuzor and Lawrence, 2020)
 3) Of primary school age, 27% more females than boys do not attend
school. (Lawrence, Ihebuzor and Lawrence, 2020)
PROGRESS
 Between 2015 an d2021 the percentage of people who completed their
elementary, middle, and upper secondary education increased (2023)
 Primary: from 85 to 87% (2023)
 Lower secondary: 74 to 77% (2023)
 Upper secondary: 54 to 58% (2023)
