How would you describe what it means to have a sociological imagination?
The way I would describe what it means to have a sociological imagination would be the
ability to grasp what is going on in the world, and to understand what is happening within us. A
connection to our personal life to the world. It helps us see that our personal issues are usually
tied into societies issues. For example a personal issue of debt can be tied into a societal issue
of the economy. It is a way to see the bigger picture, a way to ask what is happening in our
society rather than to ask why is this happening to me. The ability to shift from evaluating one
singular families budgets to an entire nations budgets is the way to turn a more self centered
imagination to a sociological imagination. The way to do so is to understanding issues troubles
vs issues. Troubles are what occur to an individual, and or around an individuals immediate
societal setting. While issues deal with problems in society, often seen as a public matter. The
way I would describe a sociological mind? I believe I made the perfect example earlier. What is
happening in our society. Is in my opinion the best answer to this question.
