Overview: The Site Selection Debate is a structured academic activity designed to
enhance students' critical thinking, research, and presentation skills. Students
will work in groups to analyze potential sites for a hotel and resort development,
applying principles of planning, zoning, environmental assessment, and
economic feasibility. The activity culminates in a formal debate where each
group presents and defends their selected site, critiques opposing proposals,
and engages in a moderated discussion. The winning site will be chosen based
on the strength of arguments, supporting research, and compliance with
regulatory and planning considerations. This debate serves as a dynamic
learning experience, reinforcing students' ability to make informed, datadriven decisions in architectural and urban planning contexts.
Objective: This phase focuses on the Master Plan and the architectural design of the main
facility of the Hotel & Resort. The goal is to develop a cohesive site plan and a
detailed architectural design that responds to environmental, cultural, and
functional requirements while ensuring feasibility within a 1-3 week timeframe.
