B. Marking: 1. Clearly identify vessels or sections of vessels by painting or dye stenciling the purchase order number and vessel number in a conspicuous location on the shell, head, or support. 2. Specify on the fabrication drawings that vertical vessels are to be marked on the base and first foot of skirt, clearly indicating the north, south, east, and west coordinates. The coordinates shall be indicated with a painted line and letter for each according to orientation. The marking may be made on the shell near the bottom tangent line if the vessel is supported on legs or lugs. C. Mark horizontal vessels with one end marked north, south, east, or west to indicate vessel orientation.
