Abstract
This project focuses on the planning and design of a G+3 residential building located in
Patna. The design includes architectural layout, structural analysis, and estimation. The
structure is designed as per IS codes, considering factors like load-bearing capacity,
functionality, and safety. The aim is to provide a cost-effective and durable residential
solution.
1. Introduction
Residential buildings are essential structures designed to provide shelter and comfort to
people. The design of a G+3 residential building involves careful planning to ensure
structural safety, aesthetics, and efficient space usage. This report presents the
comprehensive design and planning of a G+3 building with all necessary civil engineering
aspects.

• Total Built-up Area: Approx. 600 m²
• Orientation: North Facing
• Soil Type: Medium Stiff Clay
• Seismic Zone: Zone IV
• Wind Speed: 47 m/s
3. Design Criteria and Codes Used
The design has been carried out using the following IS codes:
• IS 456:2000 – Plain and Reinforced Concrete Code
• IS 875 (Part 1, 2 & 3) – Loading Standards
• IS 1893:2016 – Earthquake Resistant Design
• SP 16 – Design Aids for Reinforced Concrete

• Slab: 150mm thick RCC
• Staircase: Dog-legged staircase with 150mm tread and 300mm riser
• Roof: RCC slab with waterproofing
5. Architectural Plans and Elevation
Typical floor plans and front elevation are included in the appendix (to be attached
separately).
6. Estimation Summary
The estimated cost for construction of the G+3 residential building is approximately ₹60
lakhs, which includes:
• Civil works
• Electrical and plumbing
• Finishing and painting
• Labour and contingencies
7. Construction Materials Used
