Dear: Sir/Madam
Re: THE DANGER BEING POSED BY UNCOLLECTED REFUSE AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THE
PROBLEM
I am writing this letter to you in order to enlighten you about the dangers imposed by not
collecting refuse in communities. The possible solutions to these problems that are being faced
due to uncollected refuse are going to be outlined as well in this letter.
In the communities many people have faced many health complications due to uncollected
refuse. To start of with how litter is just laying around everywhere in the community. People
have developed new dumping areas and they have used valuable land to make dumpsites.
According to the research I carried out in the community the residents complained about the
shortage of bins which has increased the situation of creating dumpsites.
Illegal littering promotes breeding grounds for mosquitos, flies and rodents which are diseases
vectors and thus can result in human death. As the illegally dumped litter rots, it releases smell
that is not good for human well being and violates the right to human dignity. Previously illegal
litter dumping used to be for large materials like bricks, asbestos, iron sheets, hedges and other
debris. However in recent times, even household litter that includes papers and clothing are
being indiscriminately dumped.
Refuse was collected fortnightly in the eastern areas and weekly in high-density areas. Some
areas did not have their refuse collected due to fuel shortages and other unexplained reasons
that were given to the local citizens by the city council. During public holidays the waste
generations increases.
Nowadays the city council can go over a month or two without collecting the refuse. It is said
that the council sometimes they do not even come to collect refuse giving the reasons that the
roads leading to the area do not have nice roads. Dumping their garbage in in inappropriate
places has caused different problems like extreme climate change.
Everyone wants to stay and live in a healthy, clean, fresh and sanitary place. A city with poor
waste management will certainly not attract will certainly not attract tourists and investors.
Landfill facilities that are mismanaged can cause the local economy to sink, which can then affect
the livelihood of the locals.
Mosquitos and rats are known to live and breed in sewage areas, and both are known to carry
life-threatening diseases. Mosquitos breed in cans and tires that collect water, and can carry
diseases such as malaria and dengue. Rats find food and shelter in landfills and sewage, and
they carry diseases like leptospirosis and salmonellosis. Moreover moisture production from
waste is a breeding ground for mould. It’s bacteria that has the ability to spread and grow given
the appropriate conditions’ such as moisture production from appliances and food scraps.
The following are suggestions of solutions to the problems faced. To begin with supplying bins
for residents or teaching them how to create home-made bins using sacks or empty plastic bags.
The city council must apply for fuel supplies from the government and private fuel companies.
T8he city council executive must change often giving new people chances to be able to develop
the country. The government must be able to install legislation that arrest all those who dump
their litter in places that are not appropriate. Litter must be collected frequently in order to
avoid the spread of diseases.
The breeding of diseases vectors can be reduced by chemicals that kill these vectors. The
spraying must occur regularly at least the spread of diseases decreases. Community members
must also work hand in hand with the government in order to keep their communities.
Community members must participate in the cleaning up campaigns. Awareness campaigns
must be held in order to educate the members of the public.
The method of recycling waste also helps to clean the environment. Recycling also generates
income to support families in the society and the nation. Materials that can recycled must be
separated from other garbage. The city council must clean dumpsite so as to prevent breeding
of vectors. It is therefore important that every household takes recycling to heart. If everyone
takes time to segregate and sort their recyclable wastes and bring them to recycling centres, the
bulk of waste that will be removed from landfills.
I hope you will take our complaint to consideration and help us as a community so as to build
our nation like his excellence always says.
Yours sincerely
Tadiwanashe B Gara

Background
It has been noted that most girls in your community fall pregnant before completing O level
studies which adversely affects their career paths and subsequently leads to a bleak future.
PART A
In our community there has been quiet a number of girls that have fallen pregnant before
completing their O level studies. approximately about forty five percent of teenage girls were
impregnated before leveling their O levels. As a community it has been recorded that
approximately 145 girls dropped out of school because of teenage pregnancy in the years 2023
and 2024
CAUSES OF TEENAGE PREGNANCIES
Lack of information about sexual and reproductive health and rights
Inadequate access to services tailored to young people
Family, community, social and peer pressure to marry
Sexual violence
Child, early and forced marriage, which can be both a cause and a consequence
Lack of education or school drop-out
Poverty in families
Need for dowries
Desire to have a child
These cause are going to be explained further in Section B
PART B
Adolescent pregnancies is global issue but most often occur in poorer and marginalized
communities. Many girls face considerable pressure to marry early and become mothers while
they are still children themselves. Teenage pregnancy increases when girls are denied the right
to make decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and well-being. Approximately
90% of births to girls aged 15-19 in developing countries occur within early marriages where
there is often an imbalance of power, no access to contraception and pressure on girls to prove
their fertility.
The following are the causes of teenage pregnancies, lack of information about sexual and
reproductive health and rights, inadequate access to services tailored to young people, family,
community and social pressure to marry, sexual violence and peer pressure. Lack of guidance
from their elders. Girls must be able to make their own decisions about their bodies and future,
understanding the effects of teenage pregnancy, and have access to appropriate healthcare
services and comprehensive sexuality education.
Factors such as parental income and the extent of a girl’s education also contribute. Girls who
have received minimal education are five times more likely to become a mother than those with
higher levels of education. Pregnant girls often drop out of school, limiting opportunities for
future employment and perpetuating the cycle of poverty. The lack of some material needs also
caused teenage girls to engage in having sugar daddies which is causing them to exchange their
bodies for the materialistic things.
The possible solutions to avoid teenage pregnancies. We are committed to tackling teenage
pregnancies, especially among young adolescents aged 10 to 14 years who are most at risk and
yet often overlooked. We also have to support girls who have already become mothers. By
raising girls’ awareness of their sexual and reproductive health and rights, protecting them from
abuse. Connecting them with education and health services, we support the decisions they
make about their future and bodies.
The introduction of sex education at school levels in order to enlighten the teenagers. This may
work because some students do not know the consequences that are faced after they have
engaged in sexual activities. On other levels guidance and counselling helps a lot in situations
that are faced by teenagers who are lacking parental guidance. Community members must also
work hand in hand with teachers so that they can talk to teenagers.
Parents must have a best friend relationship with their children so that their children may be
able to speak freely about their social life with them, so that they do not find comfort in
boyfriends and sugar daddies. Parents must strive to give their children whatever they want so
that they do not exchange their bodies with materialistic things.
Pregnant girls are carrying out abortion on their own which is damaging their reproductive
system, which is causing complications at the times when they will need children when they
grow up. House parties which teenagers are attending and taking drugs must be prohibited if
there is no parental guidance at the party. Elders who have sexual activities with underaged
children must be arrested.
Teenage pregnancy can also have negative social and economic effects on girls, on their families
and communities. Unmarried pregnant adolescents may face stigma or rejection from parents
and peers as well as threats of violence. They are most likely to face violence within their early
marriages or6 partnerships.
When implementing some of these solutions we should consider that we will face challenges.
We should come up with backup solutions that we will use so that we can work together to
fight teenage pregnancies as the community at large. Elders must be able to reprimand children
if they see them on the wrong side and must educate them using their life experiences so that
the teenagers get to know wat type of problems they are inviting for themselves.
During a research I carried out this article I interviewed two teachers and four pregnant
students. The finding I found relate to the causes that I have list above. To a conclusion
teenagers are engaging in sexual activities due to peer pressure and lack of guidance. It is hoped
that teenagers implement some of the solutions suggested here, the problem of teenage
pregnancy may become a thing of the past. Recently children have being taking drugs due to
the failure to provide for their children which has become a very huge problem for the society
at large.
