Has Social media improved human communication?
Good morning/afternoon, everyone.
Today, I want to talk a bit about how social media is changing the way we communicate.
Let me start by asking you a question: Imagine that social media didn’t exist. You have a close
friend who lives far away—maybe even in another country. How would you stay in touch with
them?
Before social media, we relied on phone calls, letters, or maybe the occasional visit. Now, we
can message each other instantly, video chat whenever we want, and share updates in real time.
It’s pretty amazing how connected we’ve become.
One of the biggest ways social media has improved communication is by increasing
connectivity. We can stay in touch with family and friends, even if they live on the other side of
the world. And it's not just about keeping old connections—it also helps us meet new people who
share our interests, no matter where they are.
Social media can also help us build friendships and feel more socially connected. Whether it’s
joining a group, following a community, or just chatting with someone new, it’s made forming
new relationships a lot easier.
But with all that said, I do have some concerns. Social media isn’t perfect. While it helps us
connect, it can also lead to issues like misinformation, online bullying, or feeling isolated if
we’re not careful.
So in conclusion, while social media has definitely changed how we communicate—mostly
for the better—it’s important that we stay aware of the downsides too.
Thanks for listening.
