Guidelines for Preparing Student
Assignments
1. Title Page (First Page)
Include the assignment title, student name, course name, and submission date.
Use clear and legible fonts (e.g., Times New Roman, size 14 for the title, size 12 for other
details).
2. Updated Index
Provide a complete table of contents, listing all sections with corresponding page
numbers.
Use consistent formatting for headings and subheadings.
3. Answer
Ensure all answers are aligned with the assignment criteria and learning outcomes. Read
the assessor’s guideline at the bottom of the assignment.
Enhance clarity by using relevant examples, case studies, or diagrams.
Avoid grammatical errors and ambiguous phrasing.
Each answer should cover at least 1 page of a Word document.
4. Question Numbering
Number all questions as per the assignment brief.
Maintain a clear structure by answering questions in sequence.
Write the question before starting any answer.
5. Formatting
Use standard margins (1-inch on all sides) and line spacing (1.5).
Use a professional font style (e.g., Times New Roman or Arial), font size 11 for body
text and size 12 for headings.
Align text to the left, with justified paragraphs.
Subparts of a task (e.g., AC 1.1, 1M1, 1D1) are not required to start from a new page.
6. Tasks Beginning
Begin each task on a new page for better readability (e.g., Task 1, Task 2).
Clearly mention the task number and title before starting the content.
7. References
Use Harvard referencing style with at least 15 book references listed on the last page
of the assignment.
Ensure all references are credible and relevant to the assignment.
8. Plagiarism Report
Submit a plagiarism report from a reliable tool (e.g., Turnitin).
Maximum 15% similarity is allowed.
Ensure the similarity index is below the acceptable threshold (as per institution policy).
9. File Naming
Use a clear and consistent file naming convention: Name-Level-Assignment Title.
Example: Ali Raza-L4-Contract Law.
Avoid special characters or spaces in file names.
10. Final Tips for Submission
Review the entire assignment for accuracy, clarity, and completeness before
submission.
Submit the assignment on or before the deadline to avoid penalties.
